Speaking as an African American, I like his hair. It's not about doing something or not doing it bc you're not a certain race, for me, it's about respecting and acknowledging all cultures in situations like this. No one should have a problem with him trying out a hair style. He has in no way offended a culture by doing so.
Dreads actually aren't "black culture". You can see pictures from many cultures dating thousands of years ago. It's just uniform matted hair.
Who cares..feminist shave their head and get buzz cuts. Its hair!! So what
Didn't realize only black people were allowed to have dreads. Tell that to John Jaso from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He's white and has them.
Why hear him out? It's his hair, if he wants dreads, fine, if he wants to shave his head, fine, what's the big deal and why hear him out?
It's more telling that we've becomes a society of being offended for no other reason than for the sake of being offended in that someone has to seek out permission and then explain why he got dreads and also announce that he feels guilty about getting them.
Geez people, grow a pair, not everything is about you.
Dreadlocks either came from Egypt or from Hindu god. Sorry, it does not belong to a culture. And if your culture is so weak that it is hurt by what someone else does with their hair, then maybe you ought to try to take steps to make a better culture. Here's an idea: don't abandon your kids, don't have abortions, work hard in school, don't ever resort to violence against anyone.
Maybe he's just lazy. I'm Asian and I have long hair for a while. It gets really hot and hard to sleep and the summer. It gets wet every time you take a shower unless you wear that ridiculous shower cap. And maintenance is a pain, brushing, blow drying...If dread get wet they still stay in that shape. They don't get in your face and neck all the time when its hot. Maybe that it! At the end of the day, it's just hair.
Wake me when it's over. Another in a long line of non-stories. Why in the hell would anyone give damn what someone else does with their hair? Mind your own hair and leave it at that.
Chinaman Uncle Tom
Do we ask why black women lengthen their hair with chemicals and make their hair look long instead of nappy? No, I thought so.
ahhhhhh, the cultural appropriation comment. what about black people that have chinese tattoos or black women that wear weaves and wigs to give them long hair like a white women....where the outrage for them? i don't think long blonde hair is a natural hair for a black women...yet i see it at least once a day.
