Jennifer Lopez's Braided Updo Is Old-Hollywood Perfection

Retro hair has had a major comeback in 2019 with celebrities recreating '60s ponytails and early '00s updos on and off the red carpet. But leave it to Jennifer Lopez to reach as far back as Ancient Greece for beauty inspo.

The Hustlers star attended the 2019 Governors Awards wearing a strapless yellow Reem Acra gown and an architectural hairstyle that channeled Queen Aphrodite herself. Lopez's look was crafted by Danielle Priano, who pulled her brunette hair was back and accentuated it with braids that wove around a high bun. Her glam was complemented by her signature glowing skin, mile-long lashes and glossy, nude lips.

White it's unsurprising the actress looked nothing short of Mount Olympus royalty (this is J.Lo we speak of), Vogue suggests that she may have also drawn inspiration from another regal figure: Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly. The outlet notes that Kelly, a fixture of Old Hollywood, often opted for braided updos reminiscent of the one Lopez was just spotted in.

Queens stanning queens? We approve.

Lopez's hair has been making (almost) just as many headlines as the star herself of late. The 50-year-old has been playing around with super on-trend lobs and shorter blonde bobs recently — a hairstyle that has been seen on everyone from Cardi B to Saoirse Ronan to Kylie Jenner. But photos from her recent engagement party with fiancé Alex Rodriguez show her with longer blonde strands featuring soft waves, a look befitting a bride-to-be.

Take a closer look at her red carpet glam below.
