Jennifer Lopez and Shakira Will Headline the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Fresh from reprising her green Versace dress moment at Milan Fashion Week and garnering Oscar buzz with hit film Hustlers, Jennifer Lopez is far from done with 2019. (She got engaged to Alex Rodriguez in the spring, too.) Today, the performer and fellow pop star Shakira announced that they would be taking the stage for the 2020 Super Bowl Halftime Show:

Savvy fans suspected Lopez might’ve had something up her sleeve when she posted a video to her Instagram account in early September, declaring that this football season would be “special.” The two superstars will entertain fans at the NFL’s championship game at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on February 2, 2020. They first teased the news on social media with photos of each other:

The Halftime Show is one of the showiest live musical performances of the calendar, and its more recent featured artists include Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Katy Perry.

Lopez and Shakira have never performed together before, but both singers have recently made significant tour news. Lopez’s just-finished It’s My Party world tour was her first in seven years; earlier this month, Shakira announced that her film Shakira in Concert: El Dorado World Tour would be hitting theaters on November 13.
