Jennifer Lopez Just Wore Super-Cute Space Buns by Chris Appleton

In which J.Lo makes the case for messy space buns.

Space buns are officially having a moment. First, the double-bun hairstyle picked up steam on Pinterest, where all great trends are born. Then, Ariana Grande traded in her signature ponytail to rock her own set of space buns. And now, Jennifer Lopez is making the trend official with her own take on the '90s-throwback style.

Hairstylist Chris Appleton posted a photo of Lopez on set with the caption "MOÑO," which translates to "bun" or "topknot." In a contrast to the pulled-back, polished version that Grande is fond of, Lopez's is a looser, more fluid take on the style, with her wavy natural texture still intact and the buns pulled into messy, imperfect orbs — it's all-around effortless. And in true J. Lo style, she paired her hairstyle with big, gold hoops and a pile of necklaces.

Lopez has lately favored extra-long extensions and waist-length ponytails, so the updo is a departure from her typical aesthetic — not to mention a break for all that extra weight her poor scalp has had to carry.

These space buns may be more on the natural side, but the style lends itself to all manner of futuristic flair. You can rock 'em in unicorn shades, with glitter, braids, and more. Feel free to pile on the extras if you try this look at home.
