Everyone remembers the biggest news to come out of the 2016 Met Gala. It involved dancing, Taylor Swift, and Tom Hiddleston. Just two crazy kids whose boogie was for real back in May of 2016. They hadn’t yet started dating. They hadn’t become a single entity known as Hiddleswift. They hadn’t been all over the world and back again, only to break up by fall. This isn’t related, but an orange melting Dalí clock hadn’t yet become president. We were never so young.
Since Hiddleswift is no more (and neither party attended Monday’s soirée), someone had to take up the mantle of best dancer at the 2017 Met Gala. This person danced alone, for her companion did not seem interested in dancing with her. No bother; for Jennifer Lopez does not need a partner. Behold, someone having a great time without a care in the world, captured by Giancarlo Giammetti. Watch it here.
Lopez and Alex Rodriguez made their big red-carpet debut as a couple Monday night, but when it comes to matters of the heart, there’s more to watch than such grand gestures. It’s the little things, like some head bobbing when you see your girlfriend is feelin’ it. It’s ceasing to snap your gum, if only for a second. It’s smiling. It’s laughing.
Could it be only be a matter of time before A. Rod’s “I <_3 j.l.="j.l." tank="tank" top="top" a="a">? Following his refusal to get up and dance, such a Hiddlestonian gesture would only be right. Make it right, Alex. Make it right.</_3>
