Hardly a shock: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez would prefer Trump out of office. Speaking virtually with former vice president Joe Biden and Jill Biden, the superstar couple explained why they are endorsing the Democratic nominee for president in the upcoming election.

Metaphorically invoking his career in sports, Rodriguez said he wants “to come together as a team to defeat COVID” and to repair the economy. Lopez added, “For me, it's unifying the nation again, getting rid of this hate. Thinking about my kids waking around in a world where it's okay to be racist or prejudiced because our administration says it's okay. That, to me, is really sad, because it's not the country, to me, that I believe that I grew up in.”

Pointing out that the Latino population has been especially affected by the pandemic, Lopez asked the Bidens what their plan is to contain the virus and eventually reopen the economy. The former vice president responded with a few sobering statistics: “A Latino is three times more likely to be infected by the virus than a white person. Three million unemployed [Editor's note: This unemployment number is total, all ethnicities], two hundred thousand Dreamers are on the front lines of essential workers risking their lives…and one in three Latino small businesses are gone.”

The foursome also discussed the power of voting, and Jill promised that, if her husband is elected, Latina women will have “a seat at the table.” “And in the cabinet,” the nominee added. They bonded over their shared Catholic faith and commitment to family. The pop star and ball player encouraged everyone, especially in Florida, to vote, speaking in Spanish about the importance of casting a ballot.

Since being posted on Friday, the chat has been viewed more than 3 million times via Lopez's Instagram page. On YouTube some commenters have pointed out that superstars like J.Lo and A-Rod are far removed from the everyday concerns of most Americans, though it's worth pointing out that concerns over hatred and bigotry certainly transcend class, and as we've seen, even the richest celebrities aren't safe from the coronavirus. Anyone can want a better future for their country.

Oh and again, in case you missed it, VOTE.
