After dating for two years, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are engaged.

Last night, the A-list couple announced the news via social media with a photograph of the rather impressive engagement ring.

Lopez left the romantic snap to speak for itself, posting the image alongside a row of heart emojis. While her baseball player fiancé penned the caption: "she said yes".

The couple first met over 13 years ago at a New York Mets game but their relationship didn't become romantic until 2017, when the pair bumped into each other at a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

"I was having lunch somewhere and I saw him as he passed by," Lopez told Ellen DeGeneres during an appearance on her television show in April 2017. "Afterwards, I went outside and for some reason I felt like tapping him on the shoulder."

The couple finally made their red carpet debut at the Met Gala in May 2017 and have been widely regarded as one of Hollywood's most beloved couples ever since.

Rodriquez reportedly proposed to the singer during a holiday in the Bahamas and by the looks of the engagement photograph, he chose a palm-fringed beach to pop the big question.

Though it's not the first time either of them have walked down the aisle. Lopez has previously been married to Ojani Noa (1997-1998), Cris Judd (2001-2002), and Marc Antony (2004-2014) - with whom she shares two children, 11-year-old twins Max and Emme.

The 49-year-old singer was also engaged to actor Ben Affleck from 2002 to 2004.

While Rodriguez was previously married to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002 to 2008 and they have two daughters together, Ella and Natasha.

Speaking about their relationship back in 2018, Lopez revealed: "We are very much twins. We're both Leos, we're both from New York, we're both Latino and about 20 other things."

"I understand him in a way that I don't think anyone else could, and he understands me in a way that no-one else could ever."
