Jennifer Lawrence is basically one of the biggest movie stars on the planet.

Jennifer was already a critically acclaimed actor before The Hunger Games film franchise took off, but there's no doubt that the series elevated her career to new levels.

As it turns out, Jennifer has some mixed feelings about how The Hunger Games affected her career.

During a recent London Film Festival Q&A (via Variety), Jennifer said that she feels like she "lost a sense of control" when it came to her career around the time that the first film came out.

"Between The Hunger Games coming out and winning the Oscar, I became such a commodity that I felt like every decision was a big, big group decision."

In case you don't remember, Jennifer won the Best Actress Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.

Between the first Hunger Games movie in 2012 and the last installment in 2015, Jennifer starred in eight movies — and it sounds like she felt the strain of the workload.

"When I reflect now, I can’t think of those following years, [because there was] just a loss of control.”

Jennifer's comments might explain why she took what resembled a brief hiatus from acting after filming Dark Phoenix in 2017. After that film's release in 2019, she didn't appear in another movie until last year's Don't Look Up.

And it sounds like slowing things down has helped improve Jennifer's relationship with her career. “It feels personal for me for the first time in a long time,” she said.
