The Last Thing He Told Me begins with the sudden disappearance of Owen Michaels. The story quickly picks up after his wife Hannah (Jennifer Garner) finds the note he left behind for her, which reads, "protect her." Without a second thought, Hannah is aware of who "her" refers to: Owen's 16-year-old daughter, Bailey (Angourie Rice). It just so happens that Bailey despises Hannah, only thickening the plot some more. But alas, the two must work together to fill in the blanks of this baffling mystery.

You bet. And it starts off strong right off the bat. We see a few brief, ominous clips of Hannah and Owen together. This is right before we see Hannah receive Owen's aforementioned short but creepy note. Alas, Owen is missing! The trailer, accompanied by spine-chilling music, begins to show Hannah on her quest for answers, and how she bands together with her step-daughter Bailey to find them.

Will the show follow the book?

The number of movies and shows that Reese's Hello Sunshine has developed from novels is, well, a lot—and they all relatively follow the original plot. Reese is known for bringing authors on board for the production process like in her movie adaptation of Where the Crawdad's Sing. Thus, we can expect The Last Thing He Told Me to follow suit.

Who's in the cast?

Jennifer Garner takes the leading role in the series as Hannah Owen. Starring alongside her is Angourie Rice, who will play 16-year-old stepdaughter, Bailey Owens. In addition, The Last Thing He Told Me sees Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, Geoff Stults, and John Harlan Kim as part of the cast.

The series' first two episodes will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 14. From there, new episodes will be released every Friday through May 19, 2023.
