Talk about unfortunate timing.

Eight days after an Architectural Digest story about Jennifer Aniston’s “dreamy California home” — which included several mentions of Justin Theroux — was posted online, the actors have announced their split and that dream house is for sale. Aniston and Theroux married in August 2015 and, according to a statement from her representative, the decision to go their separate ways was “mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.” The statement also said the actors consider themselves “two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”

They were clearly still on good terms when Aniston spoke with the magazine about the L.A. home she renovated. Little seems amiss in the feature, which teases, “High above Los Angeles, Jennifer Aniston crafts a scene of pure domestic bliss with husband Justin Theroux, a spectacular midcentury house, and a trio of very happy dogs.”

Later in the piece, the Horrible Bosses actress mentions Theroux.

“Justin definitely wanted to be involved, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me on how to include another voice in the design process,” Aniston told the magazine. “For instance, I figured out that immediately saying ‘No!’ to any suggestion is not the most collaborative move.”

She also talks about making Theroux and the comforts of home a priority.

“There was a time when I thought there was something romantic about picking up and trotting off somewhere different every three months,” Aniston said. “Now I’m becoming more particular about the projects I take. I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be.”

Interestingly — and sadly, given the breakup news — a single puppet in the style of the ones featured on Aniston and Theroux’s wedding cake makes an appearance in the master bedroom. As for the mansion, it’s ready for sale.
