Jennette McCurdy Slams Nickelodeon's Double Standard For Ariana Grande

The former Nickelodeon actress accused the network of treating her differently than her 'Sam & Cat' costar.

Jennette McCurdy's fans are gearing up for the release of her bombshell memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died, an expected tell-all novel that will include secrets from the actress' days on Nickelodeon.

In a sneak peek of the pages obtained by The New York Times, the iCarly alum offered readers a glimpse into her tumultuous Nickelodeon journey. Including the moment she finally "broke" while filming the spinoff series Sam & Cat.

In the excerpt, McCurdy who is now 30, recalled being promised an iCarly spinoff to reprise her role as Sam Puckett. She thought this meant having her own show before she was paired with Ariana Grande; who was also asked to reprise a former Nickelodeon character for the series, Cat Valentine from Victorious.

During their tenure on the show, McCurdy claimed network superiors prevented her–but not her co-star, Grande–from pursuing other career opportunities outside of Sam & Cat.

"What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks’s house. That was the moment I broke," she penned in the memoir.

According to the outlet, McCurdy's book also claimed that the actress turned down a $300,000 offer from Nickelodeon if she agreed to never speak publicly about her experiences at the network.

Over the years, the former child star has only briefly addressed the reasons she left the industry. Fans are hoping all of that changes with the release of her new book.

The highly-anticipated memoir is expected to hit shelves on Tuesday, August 9.
