Jeffree Star has responded and apologized to customers who reportedly found hair-like materials in his recently released eye shadow palettes.
As reported by Cosmopolitan UK, Jeffree and Shane Dawson recently unveiled a collaborative eye shadow palette called Conspiracy. The palette was part of a merch collection created by the pair, and also included a mini eye shadow palette and lip products, Buzzfeed reported.
After the release of the Conspiracy palette, some customers, mainly based in the United Kingdom, as Insider noted, came forward with quality issues. Along with reports of allegedly broken palettes, customers tweeted at Jeffree about hair-like fibers reportedly found in their makeup.
Customers directed their questions at Jeffree on Twitter, writing, "Found a hair like material in it. I just wanted to address the issue and hopefully get it resolved." Another customer reportedly experienced the same issue with the mini palette, tweeting, "There’s a hair in my palette."
According to Cosmopolitan, Jeffree swiftly responded to fans and revealed what happened, in a tweet posted on November 22. "It’s come to our attention that a few dozen people out of 1.1 million palettes produced, have a few ribbon fibers embedded in their products," he wrote. "The lab has done a full investigation & we found the issue. I pride myself on quality and fully apologize for this error."
According to the investigation, the fibers were caused by "cut ribbon sheets that were pressed into the product" and the lab has reportedly corrected the issue so it won't happen again. A video posted with the explanation further demonstrated how pressing ribbons are used to create the eye shadow.
Jeffree also wrote that those who experienced an issue with their palette could reach out to customer service for a refund.
