As fans finish the final episode of 13 Reasons Why, there seems to be one big question on their minds: What's next? Without giving anything away for those who haven't finished the series yet (but you should really get on that), the finale certainly leaves some storylines open-ended, and there's more than one loose thread remaining. Producer Selena Gomez and actress Katherine Langford are just as hopeful for a second season as the fans are, and now, author Jay Asher is weighing in on the possibility as well.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jay revealed that he'd love to see more from all of the characters. "I’m curious as well," he explained. "What happens to Clay? How do people react to what Alex did at the very end? What’s going to happen to Mr. Porter? I’d thought of a sequel at some point. I’d brainstormed it, but decided I wasn’t going to write it. So I’d love to see it."

And while Jay won't say for sure whether or not there will be a second season, he acknowledges that the finale was crafted in a way that definitely kept the door open for that very option. "Every action we have is going to have repercussions in ways we could not anticipate," he described. "You realize that with not just what Hannah did, but also how other people treated Tyler throughout it. It’s the whole message of the book. Of course, there’s obviously ways to go with a second season if they do that." We definitely agree, and we have a feeling that fans would come back in droves for more from Clay and his classmates.
