In case you’re not up to speed on all things reality TV, you should know that season five of Selling Sunset, a show about the glitzy Los Angeles real estate scene and the realtors that run the market, recently hit Netflix on April 22.

A focal point of this season? The rocky romantic relationship between Chrishell Stause, 40, and her boss Jason Oppenheim, 44, who runs the luxury firm The Oppenheim Group around which the show is centered.

It took a beat for Chrishell and Jason’s relationship to soar, and then, crash. Why? For starters, Chrishell recently went through a difficult, tabloid-heavy divorce with This Is Us star Justin Hartley. And, she's now moved on with Australian singer G Flip.

The latest Selling Sunset season gave fans an unparalleled inside look at Chrishell and Jason’s romance (which, from the outside, was filled with lots of Instagram posts and a public spotlight at the end of season four). The new episodes and the show's first-ever reunion also touched on how, after only seven months of dating, Chrishell and Jason cut ties and why they parted ways.

Curious to learn more about the pair’s flame and fizzle? Read on for a complete timeline of Chrishell and Jason’s relationship, from ~early days~ to where they are now:

2018: Chrishell begins working at The Oppenheim Group.

Yup, Chrishell and Jason have some long history predating their conscious coupling. The actress/realtor began working for Jason and his brother, Brett Oppenheim, at The Oppenheim Group (a.k.a. The O Group) in 2018.

During Chrishell's first year at the agency, she began selling homes alongside fellow realtors and original cast members of Selling Sunset Christine Quinn, Heather Rae Young, Maya Vander, and Mary Fitzgerald.

At the time, Chrishell had recently married ex-husband Justin Hartley, so there weren’t sparks between her and Jason quiiite yet. (That we know of… more on that later.)

2019: Chrishell and Justin get divorced.

While filming season three of the reality show, Chrishell and Justin finalized their decision to divorce. (And ICYDK, Chrishell says she found out that Justin wanted to split via text message…)

"The night before, I’d been hosting a charity event where he donated some signed items to be auctioned, and the next morning it was all over," Chrisell told Women’s Health in a previous interview.

Now, Chrishell knows that she doesn’t want a repeat of that relationship: "I understand much more clearly how I deserve to be treated," she wrote in her memoir Under Construction.

August 2020: Jason gets real about his past relationships with coworkers.

In case you missed it (which, how?), Jason and fellow Selling Sunset realtor Mary Fitzgerald have a bit of a past—and it’s been a point of contention in the show, especially in season one. Other agents claimed that Mary received better listings and opportunities on the show because of the pair’s old sparks, though both have adamantly denied such claims. (Now, Mary is married to Romain Bonnet, who also appears on the reality show.)

"I don’t give her special treatment," Jason told Good Housekeeping about his relationship with Mary in 2020. "I understand that there can be frustrations from other agents because they see that Mary is being involved in and brought on to many of my listings. While I don’t share the financials with everyone because that’s confidential, I think that everyone would admit based on just the obvious work that she’s done, that she’s bringing more money into this brokerage and selling more properties than anyone else."

May 2021: Jason says he probably wouldn’t date another co-star.

After his relationship with Mary and Chrishell’s public divorce on the show, Jason told Page Six that dating another Selling Sunset co-star at any point "probably wouldn’t be an epic idea."

"It’s not that I’ve taken a step back from dating—it’s not on my priority list to be honest," he said at the time. "And no, that wouldn’t be a priority for me. I think that would be complicated." Basically, Jason told the publication that he was too "busy" to date. That is, until…

July 2021: Chrishell and Jason announce they’re dating.

While the cast was on hiatus between seasons four and five, Chrishell and Jason went public about their relationship via Instagram. Chrishell posted a series of pictures featuring herself and Jason, Mary and Romain, and Brett and his former girlfriend Tina Louise.

The photo gallery was captioned "The J.Lo effect," alluding to the recent news about Jennifer Lopez announcing her relationship with Ben Affleck by posting vacation photos on a yacht. Jason commented on the post with a red heart emoji. (Aw.)

"Nothing makes me more excited than to see two of my closest friends together and making each other so happy!" Mary commented on the post.

"Chrishell and I became close friends and it has developed into an amazing relationship," Jason, told Us Weekly after the post. "I care about her deeply, and we’re very happy together." Noted!

"One night when we were out, we kissed. It could’ve ended up with us laughing and saying 'What are we thinking?' Instead, it kicked off my first relationship where I felt like I could be 100-percent myself, with my best friend," Chrishell wrote in her memoir.

August 2021: Chrishell reveals that she and Jason had been dating a couple months before going public with their relationship—and drama about when the relationship *actually* began ensues.

In an interview about her new romance, Chrishell told E! News that she and Jason had actually began dating well before they told others about their romance. That means the pair most likely started dating around May 2021.

"It's just one of those things. You don't want to share with everybody and get all their opinions before you really know what it is," Chrishell said in the interview. "We really were really private and secretive for as long as we could until we realized the walls were closing in. People were getting a little savvy to it."

August 2021: Chrishell meets Jason’s parents.

Jason, Chrishell, Brett, and Tina are all photographed eating dinner at a classy Italian restaurant with Brett and Jason’s parents.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Jason and Chrishell made their official red carpet debut as a couple. (Fans will recall that Chrishell worked with Shang-Chi star Simu Liu to find a new house in season four.)

August 2021: Co-star Christine Quinn suggests that there was always something between Chrishell and Jason.

"The second she [Chrishell] walked into the office, it was definitely love at first sight between them," fellow Oppenheim Group realtor Christine Quinn said in an interview with TMZ. "There were sparks flying. We all saw it. The way that he looked at her when she walked into the office. The timing is really convenient. Just in time for season five."

When asked by the interviewer if she thought the relationship was just for a storyline, Christine replied, "I didn’t say that. I just said it was really convenient." The interviewer then asked if Christine thought the relationship would lead to Chrishell getting special treatment, to which Christine said:

"I personally think there’s a lot of favoritism involved. I haven’t seen it personally with Chrishell, but I have seen it with Mary, so I know it does happen… I have dignity. I wouldn’t sleep with my boss." (Ouch…)

November 2021: Mary speaks on learning about Chrishell and Jason’s relationship.

Apparently, while Chrishell and Jason were busy trying to keep the relationship on the DL, Mary found out about things about a week after it all started.

"We were out together, and I noticed the way he was looking at her was different. So, when she went to the bathroom, I confronted him. When she came back, Jason said, 'Sorry Chrishell, Mary knows,'" Mary told Cosmopolitan UK.

December 2021: Chrishell responds to Christine's comments about her relationship.

After seeing the interaction between TMZ and Christine, Chrishell responded to the implication that she and Jason had a romantic connection long before they revealed their relationship by saying: "It’s just not true."

"You can understand how that really could take someone down and ruin them when everyone on the internet is trying to figure out what happened," Chrishell said in an interview with Vulture. "She takes it as an opportunity to fill in some blanks that were blatantly untrue. It was many steps too far for me."

Other castmates were slightly more supportive of the relationship. "It doesn’t hurt to date the boss," Maya Vander told Us Weekly in December 2021. But she went on to note that, ultimately, Chrishell’s work was based on merit alone. "At the end of the day, she does have good clients now that she built on her own. So whatever Jason decides to help here and then it’s his call, it’s his brokerage," Maya said.

December 2021: Chrishell and Jason take to Instagram to announce their split.

After just seven months of serious dating, the Selling Sunset stars confirmed they're no longer together.

"Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward," Chrishell wrote in an Instagram post. "...And thank you Jason for the most incredible relationship and for consistently being honest with me even when it hurts."

On a photo that Jason posted to his personal Instagram, he wrote of the breakup: "While Chrishell and I are no longer together, we will remain best friends and we’ll always love and support one another. She was the most amazing girlfriend I’ve ever had, and it was the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life…"

February 2022: Chrishell opens up more about why she and Jason broke up.

Apparently, the pair ended their relationship because Chrishell wants to have children, and Jason does not, the reality star told Women's Health.

"My last relationship was such a beautiful relationship in every sense, except for the fact that we just want different things. There is still a lot of love there," Chrishell said to WH.

"I had an old school way of thinking that if you didn’t ride off into the sunset, the relationship was a failure," she continued. "And the relationship with Jason changed my thinking."

May 2022: Jason gets emotional talking about the breakup during the Season 5 reunion.

During the reunion, fans got an incredibly rare glimpse of Jason getting v choked up about Chrishell and the breakup. At one point, host Tan France asked Jason if the relationship was only for the cameras.

"That's like asking me if the Earth is flat. It's a stupid question to me. I don't feel the need to explain to people that…" Jason answered. The camera then pans to Chrishell several times as she wipes tears away and looks towards her ex-lover.

"There's a lot of sadness and loss," Jason continued. "It's been a few months, but I'm still just going through stuff. There was a lot of love between us and there still is. I still care about her very much. This has been a very difficult break-up."

Chrishell also added that "they haven't had time or space to move on yet," since season 5 focused a lot on their past 'ship.

May 2022: Meanwhile, Chrishell reveals she's dating someone new.

It looks like "J-Shell" is a thing of the past because Chrishell has definitely moved on.

"I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that's very important to me. Their name is G Flip. They're nonbinary, so they go by they/them," Chrishell said during the reunion. "And they are an extremely talented musician."

The pair are also Instagram official now. Here's a snap of Chrishell trying her hand at tattooing her new partner:

"Found my new calling. Might open up a new shop🤣💀😎😜," the realtor commented.

The two met while making a music video together, she added during the reunion. "It started because I was just going to be in their video. And it's about this chaotic love story. I come from soaps, I love acting. And with the job that we have, I don't always get to do it. At first of course I was like yes, let's do that."

"It was so much fun, we had such a blast. Not everyone's going to be ready for it, but I think it's great. I think it's amazing, the song is amazing," Chrishell explained.

So far, it seems like things are going well for the pair—a source recently told People that "Chrishell moved them in," meaning they're living together in the Selling Sunset star's Los Angeles, California, home.
