"Filming this video is scary, but it feels so liberating and freeing," Nikkie de Jager, AKA NikkieTutorials, told her subscribers earlier this week. The YouTube star came out as a transgender woman after more than ten years in the beauty industry.

"Ever since I was born, I've always thought that I was a girl," Nikkie explained. "And I just couldn't understand why I had short hair or why I had to wear trousers and a T-shirt and, like, why couldn't I wear dresses?"

The news was met with an outpouring of love – from fans, from celebrities, and from fellow vloggers. Other makeup gurus like James Charles, Patrick Starrr, Nikita Dragun, Kathleen Lights, and Manny MUA have all sent their love on Twitter. Even Jeffree Star, a former-friend with whom Nikkie once feuded, Tweeted his support.

"Uploaded my video yesterday. I was expecting a lot of – a lot of situations," she said on Instagram Stories. "But what happened last night was something I never, never would even dare to dream about. The incredible amount of love and support and warmth means so much to me. And I am – I just – thank you. I'm gonna take today to just read everything, take it all in, process, and be free."
