Jada Pinkett Smith is working on her fitness during quarantine—and spending time with her family while she’s at it. The Red Table Talk host shared a new workout video with her daughter Willow, and the duo got pretty creative with their ab exercises.

In the Instagram clip, Jada and Willow perform a coordinated routine using thick coffee table books as weights. They simultaneously extend their legs and lean back, then crunch back up to grab their books. After watching them perform rep after rep, we can just feel the burn. “A lil mother/daughter Mother’s Day prep,” Jada wrote in the caption.

At 48, Jada continues to prioritize her strength, and she’s made it clear that exercise has always been important to her. The mom of two told Shape that her mother, Adrienne (who also has rock-solid abs!), encouraged her to practice gymnastics, dancing, and horseback riding as a kid. “Sitting at home on a Saturday or Sunday was never an option,” she said.

Her entire family, including her husband Will Smith, gets active together. “They love to go to the gym with Will and me,” she said of her kids. “But surfing and snowboarding is what we do together as a family for fun.”

While Jada told Women’s Health that she “used to go so hard” by lifting heavy weights and hitting the gym every day, she now focuses on balance.

“When I’m tired I don’t go to the gym. Before it would be like, ‘You’ve got to go to the gym! If you don’t go to the gym today, you’re a sucker.’ I would be so militant,” she said. “Now I take it easy. If I only go to the gym three times a week, that’s OK. It’s OK. It’s like, my body is beautiful, my body is in good health.”

She also loads up on nutrient-rich foods, like fresh veggies and lean protein. “I can’t cook!” she admitted to Shape. “It’s genetic. My grandmother can’t cook, my mother can’t cook. I was raised to believe you eat because your body needs fuel for energy, so I eat superfoods.”
