Following the backlash from her lipstick line, beauty mogul Jaclyn Hill took a nearly two-month-long hiatus from YouTube and social media. It wasn't until late July that Hill finally made her re-debut on YouTube and Instagram, and now, finally, it appears she's back on Twitter, too. Unfortunately, things are already off to a rocky start.
On Tuesday, August 20, Hill tweeted "Hi babies 💕" to her 654,000 followers for the first time since June 25. The tweet has since amassed 2,000 likes and legions of comments from fans welcoming her back to the Twittersphere. On the flip side, many folks immediately started trolling the 29-year-old makeup artist about refunding customers, which led her to release a follow-up tweet later that day. "I know that I’m supposed to be this ultra tough human because I’m on social media. But seriously guys, some of you are so harsh and SO mean to one another it’s hurtful. Watching the way you speak to each other & to me is shocking every day," it reads.
For context, Hill had promised to refund everyone who had purchased a defected lipstick from her line back in June, though some customers are claiming they still haven't received their money back. For those unfamiliar with the controversy, the lipsticks from Hill's line were said to have pieces of hair in them, as well as holes, while others were melted. In response to Hill's second tweet that addresses people's harsh comments, one fan said, "Imagine how the people asking for their refunds feel when they were blocked by you and haven't received their money." Another Twitter user wrote, "So how about those refunds boo?"
While some people have stepped in to stick up for Hill, she's still clearly getting a lot of flack over what happened. Aside from the tweet mentioned above, Hill has yet to formally respond or clap back to the criticism, but we'll update this post if and when she does. In the meantime, keep scrolling to see what people are saying.
