J.Lo Is Reportedly "At Peace" with Her Decision to Break Up with A-Rod
Jennifer Lopez is ready to move on.
Yesterday, the pop star and baseball icon Alex Rodriguez officially announced their breakup. After four years together and a two-year engagement, the former couple shared the news in a joint statement exclusively on the Today show, also expressing that they will remain friendly.
"We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so," they said in their statement. "We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another's children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support."
According to E! News, the couple's split was ultimately Lopez's decision and due to trust issues she has with Rodriguez.
"Once her trust is broken, there's no turning around," a source told the outlet. "She feels good about her decision because she knows A.Rod will still be in her life, just in a different capacity." The source also revealed that Rodriguez allegedly saw the split coming, due to Lopez having "not been happy for awhile now."
Lopez is reportedly "at peace" with her decision, and even though she and Rodriguez are currently "cordial," she's choosing to keep her distance and will be residing in Los Angeles "for a bit."
"He is respecting her wishes right now, but has high hopes they will get back together," another source revealed to E! "He's doing anything in his power to make J.Lo happy."
