  • Jennifer Lopez shared a fresh-faced selfie to social media to kick off the new #VoteLikeAMadre campaign.

  • The social media initiative was created to help encourage Latinx mothers to head to the polls and vote for nominees who are prioritizing climate change.

In between her high-fashion photo shoots and ultra-glam beauty moments, Jennifer Lopez isn't afraid to go makeup-free in her selfies. This time, though, the pop star's fresh-faced photo was posted to social media for a good cause: to bring awareness to the importance of climate change in the upcoming election and the new initiative #VoteLikeAMadre.

"Max and Emme are my world. When I think about what their lives will be like if we ignore the significant impact climate change is having on our planet, it breaks my heart. We need to do something about it and take action NOW," wrote Lopez on Instagram. "That's why I'm pinky promising to #VoteLikeAMadre for candidates who believe in science and will work to protect the environment. All the madres out there, will you join me? ✨🌍 ✨"

According to an official press release, Lopez and other high-profile Latinx celebrities, including Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria Bastón, Zoe Saldana, and Salma Hayek, are getting the word out about #VoteLikeAMadre. The initiative is powered by a coalition of national organizations that aim to galvanize the power of Latina moms to encourage their respective communities to register and vote on or before November 3 for candidates who are prioritizing climate action.

Lopez kicked off the campaign with her bare-faced selfie, pinky promising to vote with the future of her children and the earth in mind come Election Day. She also spoke out more about the movement with Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda in a campaign video.

"In November when we vote, we will be voting with our children's futures in mind," Lopez says in the clip. " You might not like politics, but if we don't act now, our kids aren't going to like staying inside all summer because it's too hot to play outside or we don't have clean air to breathe. If we don't do something now, our children will be the ones to clean up the mess. Everyone who knows me knows this, that my kids are my world, and like any mother, I want the best for them."
