J. Law Says It Was “Really, Really Hard” Working With Jonah on Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up’

If you’ve been on social media at all lately, even for a second, you’ll more than likely have seen plenty of chatter surrounding Don’t Look Up, which premiered on Netflix over Christmas. The movie has been the talk of the town (read: world) since it was released because of its poignant message about climate change, not to mention its star-studded cast, which features Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, and more.

But while it seems the impressive cast list has proved a hit with fans, behind the scenes of the movie, things between them were a little bit stickier, with Jennifer recently revealing that working with Jonah was actually “really, really hard.”

Thankfully, though, there’s no bad blood brewing between the two, and the difficulty they faced while filming is all to do with Jonah’s improv skills. Speaking to Vanity Fair, J. Law, who plays astronomer Kate Dibiasky, said, “It was really, really hard filming with Jonah and just not ruining take after take laughing.”

She continued, “We one time dedicated an entire day to him just improv-ing insults at me. It was amazing.”

Commenting on Jonah’s ability to improv, the Hunger Games star revealed he and “Meryl were the only ones who should do that kind of improv.”

“I mean, he’s just a comedic master,” she added.

Although filming the movie was fun and there are undoubtedly plenty of scenes to laugh about, J. Law reminds us that the sentiment behind the Netflix must-see is more serious. When asked what is the “biggest thing” viewers should take away from the movie, she replied, “To stop handling information the way that we do now, where there’s, like, the truth and science and then politics or, you know, personal feelings involved.”

“You know, we should all just be on the same page of, you know, taking care of our planet and taking care of mankind. World peace would be my hope.”
