I'm a terrible cook, so much so that my dad jokes that the best thing I make is reservations. But if you ate at my house in the last few months, I might have fooled you into thinking I'm an excellent chef thanks to the Ultrean 8-Quart Air Fryer—which is currently less than $100 for Black Friday.
Talented cooks rave about air fryers, but it took me a while to finally bite the bullet and buy one, mostly because they're so expensive. I waited until Amazon Prime Day this past year, did my research, and found that the lesser-known Ultrean Air Fryer had better ratings (and was more affordable at around this same sale price) than some more distinguished brands.

"I had a Ninja air fryer, which was great, but had wear and tear after 2+ years," wrote one of the reviewers that I sourced. "I came across this product with good reviews and decided to try it. The digital panel is very easy and it cooks evenly. If you use the presets, it cooks food at the appropriate temp and time. The basket is large. I cooked a mini Boboli pizza and it turned out perfect! If you need a larger basket and an air fryer that cooks perfectly—try this one!!"

The air fryer is larger than I originally expected it to be, but to be fair, reviewers were raving that it can cook a whole chicken at once, so I should have expected it to be large. Luckily, it still tucks away neatly in my small pantry. I love that it has eight preset functions for common dishes like chicken, fish, steak, and bacon. It also comes with a recipe book to help you determine how long to cook things like potatoes and Brussels sprouts, though since I've gotten the Ultrean, I've noticed that most pre-packaged items, like my favorite falafels, come with air fryer cooking instructions.
Thanks to the preset functions, this is the first time in my life I haven't dried out chicken. The non-stick basket is also truly non-stick, so I've been using less oil to achieve the same crispy texture with my vegetables. I also love that you don't need to preheat it before cooking like you would with an oven: Dinner is on the table much faster with that 360-degree rapid heat circulation technology. The internal temperature can range from 160 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and you can set your cook time anywhere from a minute to an hour.
And despite only cooking for my fiancé and I, cleaning up after dinner used to feel like a hassle because we'd have multiple pans and utensils to wash. Now, we just take the detachable air frying rack and pop it in the dishwasher to clean once we're done eating.
