Ivanka Trump Is Being Called ‘Complicit’ After This MLK Day Tweet

Since being called complicit last year in a now-famous SNL sketch that led to “complicit” being named Dictionary.com Word of the Year, First Daughter and White House adviser Ivanka Trump continues to make online missteps that add further fuel to the accusation. A tweet Monday morning in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day was no exception, prompting some on Twitter to once again call out the Trump daughter for being “complicit” in her father’s recent anti-immigrant decisions and remarks.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the world’s great heroes,” the tweet reads. “Today we honor his profound life and legacy.”

The tweet caused people to question Ivanka’s timing in the wake of widespread public sentiment that her father, President Donald Trump, made a racist comment regarding developing nations and immigration to the US. Some pointed out that Ivanka has never actively condemned the remarks her father has made.

Others pointed out that Dr. King himself would have condemned the younger Trump’s silence, using his own words to make their point.

Others still accused her of hypocrisy.

This isn’t even the first time this month that the younger Trump is being called out for her support of social justice movements. After last weekend’s Golden Globes, the mom-of-three tweeted her support for Oprah Winfrey after the mogul’s Cecil B. DeMille acceptance speech went viral.

While Ivanka Trump tweets her messages of support to these causes, she remains woefully silent on related matters that involve her father. Ivanka has yet to comment on her father’s misconduct allegations and has been similarly silent when the administration reversed a gender-equal pay initiative. She has also been silent around her father’s decision to reinstate a Global Gag Order, forcing countries that receive aid from the US to refrain from using said funds to support abortion, abortion services, or even abortion education.
