Just like TLC’s show Dr. Pimple Popper, which it follows, this series chronicles doctors helping patients living with unbearable health conditions. In the case of feet, they’re suffering from issues such as extra toes, giant feet or fungal infections, all of which affect their movement. A preview of the show comes with a warning that it features graphic images that could be unsettling for some — and you’re going to want to take that seriously — but if you can stomach it, it promises to be interesting and sometimes even touching, as peoples’ lives change for the better. — Raechal Shewfelt

We’re still waiting for Sam Raimi to direct another horror movie, but at least The Evil Dead mastermind is bringing his decades of expertise to the genre as the producer of such low-on-budget, high-on-tension pictures as the 2016 home invasion thriller Don’t Breathe and this summer’s underrated creature feature Crawl. Seeing Raimi’s name in the credits makes us feel a whole lot better about The Grudge, a reboot of the America-by-way-of-Japan horror franchise that’s lain dormant in Hollywood since 2009. Here are two more names that have us anticipating, rather than fearing, the new Grudge: Betty Gilpin and John Cho, who play a pair of married real estate agents attempting to sell a house that has some serious ghosts inside it. And if we can’t have Raimi behind the camera, at least the studio picked the right substitute: This is the third feature from Nicolas Pesce, who made a big splash in horror circles with his 2016 debut, The Eyes of My Mother and his 2018 follow-up, Piercing. We’re ready to begin the new year, and the new decade, on a scary note. — Ethan Alter

WATCH IT: The saga continues with Surviving R. Kelly, Part II: The Reckoning
On Jan. 2, Lifetime will premiere Surviving R. Kelly, Part II: The Reckoning, which details the aftermath of Part I — such as the slut-shaming, doxxing, accusations of lying and death threats endured by the survivors who were interviewed for Dream Hampton's series. Additionally, it includes shocking new allegations (including a claim by one woman that she had a suicide pact with R. Kelly) and heartbreaking new testimony about Kelly’s alleged sexual misconduct from his former hair-braider and confidant, Lanita Carter. As the disgraced R&B star faces trial in the new year, it will be interesting to see if he is finally brought to justice, and if the music business will finally have its #MeToo moment. — Lyndsey Parker

WATCH IT: Jodie Whittaker’s delightful Doctor is in for fresh episodes of Doctor Who
It may be 50 years old and counting, but television’s longest-running sci-fi series showed it could keep up with the times when Jodie Whittaker became the Thirteenth Doctor... and the first female TARDIS-traveller in the show’s history. While her freshman season got off to a strong start, incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall — who previously worked with Whittaker and former Doctor, David Tennant, on the terrific crime drama, Broadchurch — had a steeper learning curve when it came to plotting out a satisfying season. With those first-time jitters out of the way, though, we’re anticipating a richer, funnier and all-around better sophomore year. In case you need evidence of Chibnall’s renewed commitment to comedy, the title of the season premiere (“Spyfall”) makes cheeky reference to one of the best Bond movies ever and the episode features legendary British funnyman Stephen Fry as the head of 007’s employer, MI6. Early trailers also tease the return of those classic robotic enemies, the Cybermen, along with plenty of planet-hopping and time-traveling. All we know is that we’re ready to follow Whittaker anywhere. — E.A.

This New Year’s Eve special is still going strong, more than 40 years after it debuted. Seacrest will host coverage of performances in New York, where the Times Square Ball will be on full display, with performances by Post Malone, BTS, Sheryl Crow and more. As always, this ceremony, honoring the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s favorites in TV and movies, promises to be packed with celebrities. Look out for Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon; Tom Hanks; Eddie Murphy; Ellen DeGeneres and so many more. Traditionally, the Globes is somewhat less stuffy than next month’s Oscars, and the way guests are seated — casts all together — makes it fun to watch, too. — R.S.
