Hailee Steinfeld might have won our award for best dressed at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, but she was arguably more interested in the music than the Dior couture. “It makes me feel like a rock star,” she said of the short, multi-colored frock. And sure, the PVC top and the thigh-high patent-leather boots added a necessary edge to the otherwise sweet dress, but Steinfeld might be well on her way to being a real life rockstar.
“I’ve always been interested in making music,” she told Yahoo Style on the red carpet on Sunday night. “It’s been a thing I’ve kind of done in a more amateur way, but Pitch Perfect 2 has given me a platform to explore.” When asked where that exploration might lead, or what kind of music she might make on her own, Steinfeld confirmed that she’s thinking about it: “I think I have to figure that out first and then I can tell you. I’m kind of exploring right now.”
Fans of Steinfeld won’t have to wait too long to get a sneak peek of what kind of performer the 18-year-old might be—on screen, at least. Pitch Perfect 2 comes out May 15th, and the actress promises it won’t disappoint. “It’s everything you want it to be, and more,” she says. “I’m a major fan of the first movie, and when I saw the second one—pulling myself out of it—I was very excited to see it. And to be a part of it is awesome.”
