Ireland Baldwin Accused of Looting During the California Wildfire

The Woolsey California wildfire has burned 85,000 acres in southern California, and many celebrities—including Miley Cyrus, Gerard Butler, and Robin Thicke—have lost their homes in Malibu. (Not to mention the more than 6,000 homes that were destroyed in Paradise, California. BTW, here’s how you can help the wildfire victims, should you feel so inclined.)

And adding insult to injury, Ireland Baldwin said she was accused of looting her own home over the weekend. When the model/actor returned to her residence in Malibu to gather some things before evacuating, she was met with an incredibly rude police officer.

In a series of tweets, Ireland described the stressful situation, calling the guy a total “d*ck” who wouldn’t let her enter the neighborhood. Apparently, he noticed that the address on her ID didn’t match her Malibu home, and he didn’t stop to think that her license could have just been out of date.

“Not only was he a d*ck, but he had zero compassion and he literally accused us of being looters and threatened us that we were going to be arrested if we kept giving him trouble,” Ireland tweeted.

Of course, Ireland knows that it was probably just an innocent mistake on the officer’s part, but still, his behavior was uncalled for. “In times like this when people are losing loved ones and losing their homes, the least you can do is show compassion and be as kind as you can even if you can’t help them,” she tweeted.

Ireland finished her story by sharing that her mother, Kim Basinger, also lost her home in the fire but got out safely.
