Body found under debris after brush fire in West Buechel

A body was found under a pile of debris Saturday morning after firefighters with the Louisville Metro Fire Department extinguished a blaze in West Buechel, the department said.

Louisville firefighters responded at 11 a.m. to a brush fire against a fence row in the 4400 block of Six Mile Lane, according to Bruce Haims, a lieutenant coronel with the fire department. When the blaze was extinguished, he said, they found the victim.

Haims said Louisville Metro Police and the Louisville Arson Bureau are conducting an investigation into the case.

Haims did not say what caused the fire or the cause of the victim's death. The person who was killed has not been identified.
