The Internet Reacts to That Infamous Shower Scene in 'Sex/Life'

With so many TV shows available to binge across cable and streaming, it's rare for just one to capture the internet's attention. But that's exactly what happened when Netflix recently dropped its provocative love affair drama Sex/Life. Sure, the story itself was kind of engaging, following bored housewife Bille as she embarks on an extramarital affair with her ex-boyfriend Brad, but amid the multiple steamy sex scenes, there is one moment in particular that had viewers truly clutching their pearls.

In the third episode, there is a scene set in a gym locker room, where both Brad and Billie's husband Cooper are showering. Both Cooper's gaze and the camera linger on Brad's body, including his penis. That's right. In a rare instance for Netflix, Sex/Life includes a shot of full-frontal male nudity. And it's a big one.

So big, in fact, that some fans began to wonder if actor Adam Demos was wearing a prosthetic member during the scene—but he has since confirmed that it is, in fact, all him. Which has only served to make the internet even thirstier for him, not to mention creative; the explicit moment has already been immortalized in meme form, as viewers shared their live reactions to the shower scene on Twitter, TikTok and more.

Sex/Life showrunner Stacy Rukeyser has defended the creative decision to include full-frontal nudity in the show, claiming that it is important for viewers to see just how much Cooper has become fixated on Brad as a sexual rival: "It was important to show how down the rabbit hole obsessed he has gotten, that he is now stalking his wife's ex-boyfriend," she said. "It's all internal, there’s no dialogue."
