At the Oscars last night, Ashley Graham got a taste of true Hollywood magic. The supermodel was one of the official hosts for ABC’s red carpet coverage and she carried out her duties dressed in a custom Zac Posen gown and $1 million dollars worth of jewelry from Martin Katz. Not only did she look the part of a glamorous movie siren, but she also nailed on-air interviews with the likes of Serena Williams, Emma Stone, and Jennifer Lopez. Graham—eloquent and effortless, even in her strapless corset mermaid gown, which was designed and finished for her in less than three weeks. “This gown was really a celebration of the woman herself,” Posen explained post-awards show. “It has elegance, glamour, and empowered sexiness.” Graham’s stylist Jordan Foster was on the same page as Posen, noting that the final result was “exactly what I hoped it would be.” she added, “I wanted Ashley to be completely covered, but I also wanted every beautiful curve of hers to show. Zac built a lace-up corset into the dress to accentuate her waist and show off her hourglass figure. When Ashley first put it on, we looked at each other and clapped and smiled. It was a great moment.”
Graham admits that she and her team built in 30 minutes for additional wardrobe prep (because corsetry is complicated!), but in the end, she stood on the red carpet looking comfortable and incredibly poised. The supermodel aced her duties as red carpet host and now she’s sharing all of her personal snapshots from the lead up to her starry moment exclusively with Vogue. Above, see how Graham got from rehearsals to the red carpet with priceless jewels and an Oscar-worthy glam squad in tow.
