The only thing scarier than Ghostface? The idea of a Scream movie without Neve Campbell, but that's the reality we're facing thanks to Paramount and Spyglass Media not coming through with $$$$ for her participation in Scream 6.

Neve just confirmed that she won't be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 6 due to failed contract negotiations.

“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film,” Neve said in a statement to Deadline. “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

Neve also noted, “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."

It goes without saying that we hope the studio comes through and gives Neve fair payment since she's been carrying this franchise for years! Until then, let's take a deep dive into what Scream has earned, and Neve's total net worth thanks in part to these iconic movies.

The Scream Franchise Has Made So Much Money

Deadline reports that the last Scream film (Scream 5) grossed $140 million worldwide—pretty huge considering we've been in a pandemic slump. But that's just a fraction of the franchise's total earnings of $740 million.

Here's What Neve Earned for Scream

Okay, so Neve's exact Scream salary isn't 100 percent confirmed, but we can make a guess based on what we do know. For example, Forbes reported that Neve's co-star Courteney Cox made $1 million for Scream before securing $5 million for Scream 2 and $7 million for Scream 3. Going to hope/assume Neve's earnings were the same, if not more.

Neve also spoke to Variety (in conversation with fellow horror franchise star Jamie Lee Curtis) about her payment on Scream without getting into specific numbers. In response to Jamie Lee Curtis saying there was "no profit participation" and "no back end" during Halloween, Neve said she “did all right" during Scream 3 but there was also "no back end."

"There’s always the promise of back end. And then, of course, it’s drowned in publicity and costs and all the reasons they say, ‘Oh, actually no, we didn’t make the amount of money that we’re claiming we made in all the press, so that we don’t have to give you that,’ unfortunately. It was the Weinsteins.”

She also noted that “we would like to make equal” to men profiting off horror franchises, while Jamie Lee Curtis added, “We have both worked for many, many, many years to continue our careers. At some point it’s okay to say, ‘No, I’m going to get paid this or I’m not going to be able to play in your sandbox.’”

What's Neve Campbell's Total Net Worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, that'd be $10 million. Obviously, a lot of this is from the Scream franchise, but let's not forget that Neve was also in Party of Five, has starred in a ton of movies (The Craft, anyone?), and has money tied up in real estate. So yes, she is doing fine! But also, PAY UP PARAMOUNT!
