Neve just confirmed that she won't be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 6 due to failed contract negotiations.
“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film,” Neve said in a statement to Deadline. “As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”
Neve also noted, “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years."

Deadline reports that the last Scream film (Scream 5) grossed $140 million worldwide—pretty huge considering we've been in a pandemic slump. But that's just a fraction of the franchise's total earnings of $740 million.

Okay, so Neve's exact Scream salary isn't 100 percent confirmed, but we can make a guess based on what we do know. She also noted that “we would like to make equal” to men profiting off horror franchises, while Jamie Lee Curtis added, “We have both worked for many, many, many years to continue our careers. At some point it’s okay to say, ‘No, I’m going to get paid this or I’m not going to be able to play in your sandbox.’”
