It's no surprise that painter, sculptor, and Creative Director of Comme des Garçons Parfums Christian Astuguevieille has a home brimming with art. "Like many people who create things, I have the problem of where to store them," said Astuguevieille, the man behind the newly released Concrete scent, to Elle Decor.
Astuguevieille recently shared his two homes with the magazine, which are located next door to each other in the city of Bayonne in southwestern France. Both homes reflect his shrewd eye for design and unabashed love of art; bookshelves, handmade vases, and countless paintings line the walls, and entire rooms are dedicated to storing his archives.
The artist uses the two 19th-century spaces for a variety of purposes—the first has been turned into an office and is more architecturally typical of the homes in Bayonne. The second is a more creative space; it houses his drawing and painting studio and features trompe l'œil "rugs" that he painted directly onto the floor. However, the two homes have one thing in common: "Almost everywhere you look, you come across his creations," notes the magazine.
