Ina Garten is always a beacon of light but she's been particularly comforting during this time of social isolation. Not only did she literally release a cookbook of comfort food early so we could all enjoy it while spending time at home, but she's delighted us by sipping on a giant cocktail, sharing some of her easiest recipes, and cooking with celebrity pals along the way.
She recently reflected on what it has meant to release the cookbook Modern Comfort Food during the COVID-19 pandemic during an interview with Page Six. Ina said she's received lots of love from fans who have been cooking along with her and sharing food that makes them feel good. In fact, Ina said she feels that she basically gave people the "permission" they needed to make rich and delicious food that will make them feel comforted.
“This has just been an outpouring of affection that has been so lovely that I’ve given people the tools to make something really satisfying,” she told them: “I’ve almost given them permission to make mac and cheese. We open the fridge and there are all these fresh vegetables that we bought but what we really want is a grilled cheese sandwich.”
In fact, Ina has gained even more of a following since the pandemic began, gaining 1 million additional followers from answering questions and sharing what she was making at home (even if it was something as relatable as hot dogs). She also explained that despite her most viral moment from early in quarantine being when she sipped a giant cocktail, she's not really much of a drinker.
“I think I spend more time talking about cocktails than I do actually drinking them,” Ina told them. "I have a little glass of wine and that’s basically all I need, and a cocktail once in a while."
Yes...me too...Love you, Ina!!!!
