Blumhouse is testing something in theaters exclusively ahead of screenings of Five Nights at Freddy's with what they're calling "the first-ever imaginary trailer".

Used to promote their new film, Imaginary, which will hit theaters on March 8, 2024, the teaser has the screen remain completely black as a young voice eerily requests that you close your eyes before a terrifying soundscape engulfs you.
From director Jeff Wadlow, who has previously directed Truth or Dare, Kick-Ass 2, and episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark? Imaginary follows a woman who returns to her childhood home to discover that the imaginary friend she left behind is very real and unhappy that she abandoned him.
Starring Betty Buckley, Veronica Falcón, Dane DiLiegro and Matthew Sato, the film is written by Wadlow alongside Greg Erb, Bryce McGuire and Jason Oremland.
Jason Blum serves as producer, with Ryan Turek as executive producer.
Five Nights at Freddy's had a big opening weekend at the box office, and it's commendable that Blumhouse saw it coming and took advantage of the opportunity to get audiences curious about another one of their films.
It's also a great way to encourage theatergoers to get to their seats ahead of time and enjoy the forgotten art of watching the trailers.
