I'm Dressing Like a French Girl This Fall With the Help of This New Line

There's just something about Parisian fall: Elegant women in duster coats and scarves stoically walking along quaint streets in the crisp autumn air that conjures a dreamy, romantic vibe I think we all want a piece of right now. I don't know when I'll be able to walk along Canal Saint-Martin with a fresh baguette again, but I know once the temperatures drop in Los Angeles, I'll be wearing pieces from Uniqlo's new fall/winter collection designed with model-turned-designer Ines de la Fressange to recreate that feeling. Filled with long coats, blazers, silk shirts, and billowy pants, it has everything you could want for fall. "We all need, at certain times, to be dressier, but I think no one wants to wear clothes just for one occasion, so these dressier items can be mixed with more casual clothes," de la Fressange says of the 100% silks items in the collection.

The style icon breathes French style into everything she creates and wears, and this new season with Uniqlo is no different. Since 2018, she's been collaborating with Uniqlo on collections that draw on specific moments in French history, inspiring designs that feel timeless and modern despite referencing past eras. "The 70s were a very creative and happy moment for fashion. I have noticed that young people nowadays have nostalgia for this decade," de la Freessange says of the era that fueled this new collection. The free-spirited Parisian women of the 1970s she kept in mind can be felt in the pleated blouses, wrap dresses, and masculine hats—pieces I can't wait to wear myself. Curious what I'm shopping?
