I'm Blown Away by This Black Beauty Creator's Butterfly-Themed Makeup Look

Kaleigh Fasanella

A little fun fact about yours truly is that I am properly obsessed with butterflies and all things related to the angelic creatures. I can't tell you why, but it started when I was a wee one, and well — here we are. Naturally, then, when I first caught wind of the airbrushed butterfly wing makeup trend circulating on Instagram, I was super excited and spent hours scrolling through the sea of otherwordly creations. Now, it's been a few months, and I'm psyched to share my latest butterfly-themed beauty discovery: a blue monochromatic makeup look by Black beauty creator, Yaddi.

After stumbling upon the stunning butterfly-inspired look via my Instagram explore page (you know, in the name of research), I immediately reached out to the Atlanta-based artist to find out more. Luckily, she was happy to share some details — including the meaning behind the look — with Allure.

"I started doing a butterfly series to highlight the beauty in small things," she shares over DM. "This look in particular was inspired by their metamorphosis and metaphorically, I feel as an artist that I'm going through the same, by displaying growth one day at a time."

No surprise here: Yaddi's nearly 13,000 followers are just as awestruck with the look as I am. She's received comments on the above post like, "Oh I love that soft touch of blue at the center of your lips. Utterly loooove it!" and "Wow 💙 this is so beautiful💙 I'm obsessed with all the little touches that make this so beautiful."

Yaddi's fans are 100 percent right — it's the meticulous attention to detail that makes this look so incredibly mesmerizing. For instance, the touch of blue shimmery pigment on the center of her lips, the gold sparkles placed in the corners of her eyes, and the multi-colored glitter on her lids... it all adds up and makes the finished look feel truly special.

To get your eyes on more inspiring makeup looks like this, throw Yaddi a follow on Instagram, stat.
