'Idol' contestant botches performance on historic Prince tribute night

American Idol contestant Catie Turner might be experiencing a "Manic Monday" following a rough start to her performance Sunday night. While performing The Bangles's "Manic Monday," Turner completely forgot the words to the song, which left her scrambling live on stage. Turner managed to recover and finished out the remainder of the song with no visible issues. Following her performance, judge Luke Bryan told Turner, "Catie. You have been in this competition since day one, and you have not had one glitch. So, what just happened to you is okay, darling. All right? It happens. It happens to me." Turner stated, "It's just not my night. But that's okay," to which Katy Perry immediately corrected. "No, no, no. Don't say that," said Perry. "Words are powerful. It is your night." And Lionel Richie put things into perspective when he told Turner, "You know, I love the illusion that we have created. Everyone thinks the word is perfect in this business. It's never perfect. It's never perfect. You understand me? So, when it happens like that, it's called recovery. How well did you recover? And the answer is, fantastic. You did a great job." However, in the end, Turner met her fate when she was eliminated from the competition, along with Jurnee. Meanwhile, Idol's exclusive rights to open up the entire Prince catalogue for the first time in TV history allowed other contestants to thrive, like Caleb Lee Hutchinson who sang "When Doves Cry" and Gabby Barrett who sang "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?" Also on the show, host Ryan Seacrest announced that, no matter who wins the competition, all of the top seven contestants will be hitting the road this summer as part of the "American Idol Tour," and tonight's top five contestants- Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Maddie Poppe, Gabby Barrett, Cade Foehner, and Michael J. Woodard- will be flying to Nashville to work with Idol's very own, Carrie Underwood.
