Summertime and ice cream go together like barbecues and backyards. What’s more cheerful than a colorful display of treats? And what could be a better addition to a barbecue than a sundae bar? In addition to being fun, building your own sundae bar can also be inexpensive and easy as pie (à la mode, of course)!
No one knows this better than TikToker and DIY extraordinaire Lena Taylor (@mrslenataylor). Taylor’s sundae bar tutorial, which has more than 200,000 views, would make Martha Stewart and Willy Wonka proud.

Taylor chose clear Mason jars to hold the toppings, making for a sunny assortment of sprinkles, gummies and other small goodies. Thanks to their low cost and versatility, Mason jars are an excellent decorating hack. Whether using them for drinks, flower arrangements or sweets, mason jars are a simple, elegant way to let the contents speak for themselves.
Taylor heightened the sundae showcase, literally, by adding transparent cake stands to display cones and sparkly cups she bought from a dollar store.
Of course, no sundae bar would be complete without ice cream. Last but not least, Taylor used a large ice bucket to hold the containers, keeping the ice cream cool and the table-top clutter to a minimum.
Viewers all over TikTok were delighted by Taylor’s sundae bar presentation.
“Cute!!” gushed one user, while others inquired about where they could get a cake stand.
“What a fun idea!” wrote another viewer, to which Taylor replied, “The kids LOVED it!! It’s the simple things!”
