The "Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes" Trailer Is Here, And Everyone's Reactions To It Have Been A+

2023 has really become the year where everyone re-enters their The Hunger Games phase. From countless TikToks praising the books and movies to the 10th anniversary of the film adaptation of Catching Fire, Suzanne Collins' beloved books are back in the conversation, and thank god.

On top of a resurgence of the original trilogy and movies, we're also getting the movie adaptation of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes this fall — so yes, it's good to be a Hunger Games fan.

In case you don't know, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel that takes place 64 years before the events of the original series. The book (and now movie) follows a young Coriolanus "Coryo" Snow (Tom Blyth), who is selected to be a mentor in the 10th Hunger Games and is assigned to the District 12 tribute, Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler).

It's literally one of my favorite books, so I beg you, if you read the OG trilogy, this one is worth a read too.

The book follows Coryo and Lucy's partnership as they command all of Panem's attention in an attempt to have Lucy win the Hunger Games. On top of this, the story also fleshes out the origins of the Hunger Games and we are, once again, given some amazing tributes and mentors you can't help but love.

The first trailer for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes just dropped at CinemaCon last night, and it looks so good:

The movie is directed by Francis Lawrence, who directed Catching Fire and both Mockingjay movies, so it already FEELS like an OG The Hunger Games film.

Plus, the cast is STACKED and they look perfect — like, I literally can't get over Rachel as Lucy.

Alongside Tom and Rachel, the cast includes Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, Jason Schwartzman, Viola Davis, and more.

Anyway, that's all to say that the trailer is EPIC and it led to everyone tweeting their thoughts about how excited they are, making some jokes, and pointing out some amazing details. So, below are 23 of the best reactions to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes first trailer:
