Hundreds turn out for annual Easter egg hunt on Capitol lawn
LANSING — Hundreds of children and families turned out on a sunny Saturday morning for the annual Jaycees Easter egg hunt on the Michigan Capitol lawn.
The annual event kicked off at 10 a.m. with pre-hunt events and children were turned loose on the lawn to collect eggs about 10:45 a.m.
The guest of honor for the event was the Easter Bunny, who entertained children.
Three age groups — 0-3, 4-6 and 7-12 — swarmed the lawn to snatch up some of the 10,000 eggs as quickly as they could at the hunt.
In addition to the egg hunt, there were crafts, raffles and a fire truck for kids to play on and tour.
The Lansing Jaycees, JCI Lansing, have been doing Easter eggs hunts in Lansing for more than 50 years.
