Humboldt Broncos to honour fallen captain Logan Schatz this season

When the Humboldt Broncos kick off their 2018-19 season this Wednesday, it will mark the first time the club has played a game since the tragic bus accident that killed 16 people this past April.

One of those who lost their lives in the crash was team captain Logan Schatz. With their season set to begin, the Broncos have planned a touching tribute in Schatz’s honour.

The team plans to play the entire 2018-19 season without naming a captain, in remembrance of Schatz.

It’s an extremely touching gesture by the club, who will soon embark on an extremely emotional season. The team will carry three assistant captains: Brayden Camrud, Derek Patter, and Michael Clarke will all wear an ‘A’ on their chest, according to TSN’s Ryan Rishaug.

Patter and Camrud are the only two players from last year’s team that were involved in the accident that will be returning for this upcoming season.
