Hugh Jackman's Cryptic Posts Might Hint at Wolverine Joining the MCU

·2 min read

A couple months ago, Marvel fans were lovingly roasting Hugh Jackman for really seeming like he wanted to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe—and deservedly so. In May, Jackman found a NYC Parks Enforcement Officer. He shot a video with said officer pleading to Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, that Jackman showed up as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, "even if it’s just for a ten-minute cameo."

Now, Jackman's back on the MCU campaign trail, apparently. Over the weekend, he posted two oddly specific Instagram stories in succession. In the one of them, Jackman reposted fan art from popular artist BossLogic, which was just a simple shot of Wolverine's metal claws. No harm in bumping up some fan art! But the other one, strangely, is a buddy picture of Jackman with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. Naturally, Marvel fans have taken notice of the pictures—and think that Jackman is definitely angling for Wolverine's grand entrance into the MCU. Check out the posts for yourself.

How likely is it that Jackman will don the claws again? Well, if you're asking the Marvel heads at Esquire, pretty damn likely. First of all, the emergence of the multiverse in Marvel's shows and films have made it possible that anyone from any movie anywhere can show up for a playdate with Thor and Captain Marvel. So it would make sense story-wise. Even though Jackman seemed to leave behind Wolverine in 2017's sendoff to the character, Logan, he said (granted, four years ago) that he would continue playing Wolverine if the X-Men were introduced into the MCU. Seeing that Marvel now has the rights to deploy the mutants in the MCU, we're hoping that Jackman's cryptic Instagramming is foreshadowing an Internet-breaking announcement.

Hugh, good sir: Just say you want in! We want you back and donning the claws again. No need to keep teasing us.
