You know when you watch a Chipotle employee attempt to roll those big fatties and you think nervously, “There’s no way all that’s fitting in there.” And then it magically does, and you’re all like, “Damn.” (Even when you attempt to put everything on their menu into one, like we did here.)

You can do the same thing at home, if you just follow these steps. Be warned though: you’ll still have that burrito-rolling inner dialogue that you have at Chipotle, but at least you won’t have to remind yourself that guac is extra while you’re loading it on.

How to roll a burrito

Warm a 12-inch tortilla for about 10 seconds on each side in a hot skillet. This will make it easier to roll. Lay the tortilla on a large plate or cutting board.

Layer your burrito contents across the tortilla. The filling can be up to 4 inches wide and 8 inches long. Leave at least 4 inches between the bottom of the filling and the tortilla’s edge.

Fold in the sides. Then, use your thumbs and forefingers to pull up the bottom flap of the tortilla. Pull it taut over the filling and mold it with your hands while pulling back to tighten the roll. Continue rolling as tightly as possible until you reach the end.

Let it “rest” for a minute, seam-side down, to settle in.
