I am the odd man out in that I will take a sour or spicy candy over chocolate any day. If it doesn't hurt me in some way, I don't want it!! That's why I'm eyeing up Peeps' latest Easter creation that's launching this year: Hot Tamale Peeps.
Even if you've never had a Hot Tamale before, you've definitely seen them hanging around the candy aisle. They kind of look like Mike And Ikes but they're bright red and they're actually cinnamon flavored, meaning they're HOT. Like the name! You get it. Anyway, these Peeps, spotted by Instagrammer @JunkFoodMom, take on the spicy flavor of the candy, as well as its bright red color.
Ahhh c’mon. If you’re going to give us Hot Tamale Peeps give us that fierce cinnamon taste. These have just a whisper of flavor. Good news if you’re unsure to try them. Bad news if you were hoping for that pop of cinnamon spiciness. Hot Tamale fans will be disappointed. I do appreciate the collaboration of classic candy and Peeps tho. 🐥👉🏻FOUND IN KROGER. #peeps #hottamales #hottamalepeeps #fiercecinnamon #justborn #peepsbrand #peepsonality #marshmallow #kroger #junkfood #peepseason

This might seem like an odd combo, but I could totally see it working. Sugar helps to break down spice, so even if you usually can't handle a little heat, this could help. Plus, everyone knows marshmallow and cinnamon pair perfectly together, so it's a match made in heaven.
Plus, JunkFoodMom said that there is really only a hint of cinnamon flavor, so hot sauce fans this one may not be for you, but everyone can enjoy this with no worries.
These Peeps were spotted in Kroger and I anticipate they will be seen a lot more as we get closer and closer to Easter. If spice isn't your thing, but Peeps are, then you can always enjoy cereal, coffee creamer, or the many, many different Peeps flavors available to you around this time of year. It is their time to shine, after all!
