On Thursday, the Associated Press reported the results of a five-year analysis that looked at the average number of Major League Baseball team wins compared to the number of hot dogs and sausages sold at their stadium. According to the AP, the stats don't lie: "The Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals, each of whom average more than one million hot dog and sausages sold per year, are five of the seven teams with the most wins over the five-year period that the data examined."
If the thought of a hot dog at the ball field gets you pumped up for excitement, you're not alone. The report also states that MLB fans buy an average of 20 million hot dogs and 4.5 million sausages per season, with the one-and-only Dodger dog as the reported bestseller of all.
Of course there's probably greater logic at play here: hot dog sales at baseball games also tie in with the size of the stadium, as well as fan loyalty (and ticket volumes).
