In its fashion film called “Never Change, Ever Change,” Homme Plissé Issey Miyake successfully conveyed that while the brand does not alter its artisanal approach to design and production, its clothing keeps evolving.

The film toggles between a behind-the-scenes look at how pleats are carefully imprinted into fabrics, and models sporting the looks of the season. Their movements and setting echo that of the pleats’ production cycle, at one point even seeming like cogs on a slowly spinning wheel, shot artfully from above.

The Homme Plissé collection includes fashion for daily life, from the more dressy — long white cotton shirts paired with a slim, short jacket or vest — to the sportier styles, such as the dusky rose-colored boiler suit.

Among novelties this season are the brand’s first wholly recycled polyester series and yarn-dyed pleated collection. For fall, short pants integrate a waist apron, and there’s an eye-catching print with hand-drawn motifs of African-inspired baskets.

“This video was made not only to show the collection itself, but also to send a positive message to the audience,” said a spokesman for the design team. “We hope that what we do can go beyond just making clothing and become something that will bring a sense of ease and inspire hopes for the future at a time like this.”
