'Holy Cow!': Blue Whale Swims Close to Boaters Off San Diego Coast

A blue whale wowed a lucky whale watching group off the coast of San Diego, California, recently, leaving them awestruck as it came straight for their boat and breached the water’s surface.

Domenic Biagini, owner of the tour company Gone Whale Watching San Diego, captured this footage, and even he couldn’t but be exited.

“It’s coming right at you. Holy cow!” he can be heard exclaiming in the video.

Biagini told Storyful that in his experience blue whales are “generally passive and ignore boats”. That made this display “of friendliness and curiosity all the more special!” he said. Credit: Gone Whale Watching San Diego via Storyful
