When it comes to playing around with hair color trends, there's nothing that's off limits in 2017. We've seen everything from unicorn hair dye to "lite brite" rainbow hair and now, unsurprisingly, some magical colorists have found a way to make your locks look even more mystical and enchanted than ever.

Hello Giggles pointed out the new trend that people are calling "holographic hair," and it is one of the most mesmerizing that we've seen in a while. They report that the trend began at the Ross Michaels Salon in Seattle, Washington, and is created using a host of Pravana shades, including Violet, Luscious Lavender, and Blissful Blue, along with Olaplex to lock in the blonde hue.

The result? A hair tone that's so dynamic it gives the appearance of translucency, but is so shiny that it really does look like a hologram. Already, there are a flurry of posts on social media with people showing off their freshly processed locks, and rightfully so. (Who wouldn't show this off?)

So, whether you're thinking of going mermaid, unicorn or, you know, futuristic holograph hair, there's a trend for everyone these days.
