David Oyelowo & Eddie Redmayne Looked Super Fly at the Golden Globes

While the women get a majority of the attention for their gorgeous gowns — as they should, considering the hours spent primping and prepping — (some) men are stylish and deserve praise too.

A boring trend would definitely be black, with Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Andy Samberg, David Hasselhoff, and more keeping it classic. Some dudes broke out of the box a bit by wearing blue, including Bob Odenkirk, Oscar Isaac, Paul Dano, Rami Malek, Sylvester Stallone, and Will Smith.

But then there were the guys who didn’t just settle for the first suit a designer sent, their wife picked up, or a stylist pushed on them. Take, for example, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who pimped out in a velvet maroon tuxedo jacket with black lapels. He wasn’t the only one in a the luxurious fabric: Jason Statham wore a similar jacket in chocolate brown, while Damian Lewis opted for black.

Yet there were still those who went the distance. David Oyelowo chose a purple, patterned Dolce & Gabbana suit, and Eddie Redmayne’s Gucci ensemble was covered in little bees.

Black tie might’ve been the dress code, but Jason Sudeikis and Alan Cumming took that suggestion lightly. The former SNL star paired his tux with some high-top Jordans, and the Good Wife actor paired skinny pants with Kenneth Cole sneakers.

Dear dudes of Hollywood: Step up your game (minus Oyelowo and Redmayne; you guys keep doing you).
