This time of year, there’s lots of chatter about wellness. In fact, there’s so much focus on things like tracking sleep or counting carbs that it can start to feel like a game to be won—rather than a quest for true well-being. Which is why we’ve been talking a lot about prioritizing wholeness over wellness. “It’s about tuning out all the chatter around you and being able to listen to the most important authority around you—and that is yourself,” Oprah shared recently while speaking about the idea of wholeness. “Then, it’s about releasing any notions of perfection because that is not the goal. Progress is the goal—progress toward a space where you feel more whole and complete.”

The best part? There’s no one way to feel whole. In fact, different things work for different people. Here, we asked friends of Oprah Daily—including Hoda Kotb, Sherri Shepherd, and more—for their definition of wholeness. Their answers are sure to inspire you.
