Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager Let the Audience Pick Their Outfits on ‘Today’

The pandemic and working from home has brought a bit of a style rut in all of us—in fact, lounge clothes like leggings and sweaters are the new go-to uniform for many. And although Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager stopped remotely broadcasting for Today with Hoda & Jenna a while ago, they’re bored of wearing “the same old tired things” on-air, as Hoda called them. That’s why on Tuesday, they asked viewers to help them choose outfits for the St. Patrick’s Day show.
Three outfits for each host were shared to the show’s Instagram and labeled A, B, and C. Jenna’s options were a floral-printed maxi dress (A), a red pantsuit (B), and wide legged dark jeans with a periwinkle floral-printed top (C). “Let’s hope C fits!!!! ❤️❤️❤️” Jenna commented. Hoda’s three included a red sleeveless dress with a zip-up front (A), black lace-trimmed capris with a flowy, black floral-printed blouse (B), and grey plaid slacks with a white sleeveless top (C).
By the time Wednesday’s show came around, over 10,000 people had commented on each post and both had over 5,000 likes. “People have thoughts,” Hoda said with a laugh. Before revealing the winners, she and Jenna wore long white trench coats so as not to give them away (but you could see Jenna’s jeans, which kind of spoiled hers).
Drumroll please! Hoda took off her coat to reveal option C as her winner, and she looked great. “I wanna say thank you, you guys, for picking this one,” she said. “I never wore it before because… I don’t know why I didn’t.”
Then it was Jenna’s turn to unveil, and C must be the magic letter because that was her winning vote as well! She admitted that she had worn it before, and noticed that neither she nor Hoda were wearing green… oops! “We forgot it was St. Patrick’s Day,” she admitted. “Maybe these [flowers] look like shamrocks?”
Even though the garments didn’t necessarily suit the holiday, fans were excited to see their picks on TV. “Love it. Both of my selections!!! 🙌🙌🙌” one person wrote on Instagram. “You both look beautiful!!!” another commented. “Let’s do this again some time!! You both are so warm, welcoming, and fun!!” another added.
Looks like Hoda and Jenna may have some more audience-picked outfits in their future.
