Hockey dad goes to the next level to try to help his son's career
If these last few days have been any indication, the modern parent is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that their children succeed in life.
Last week, it was revealed that America’s elite have been bribing some of the country’s top schools to get their offspring accepted to their programs. And while what this hockey dad did recently wasn’t as ethically questionable as that, it was a pretty creative and shady move in an attempt to make his son’s numbers look a little better.
He might have a hard time explaining the fact that the his son is the only player listed in the stats section, or that the domain was registered just hours before he submitted the update request… #howfarparentsgo

Eliteprospects is a respected online hockey stats archive that tracks the numbers of players (past and present) from a very large range of competitive levels. As a result, it is a valuable resource for general managers and scouts that may have an interest in skaters or goalies from leagues that they don’t see very often.
The master architect behind this plan couldn’t really expect this to work, right? His son being the only name in the stats section is just hilarious.
Twitter seemed to agree.
Hey, the stats on your site are off for me, too. In fact, I'm not even listed?!?
Please update accordingly using my attached @Capitals stats history. Thanks. pic.twitter.com/GPHCvHL459— James T Paterson (@jtpaterson) March 21, 2019
Hey @eliteprospects I think you have my son's stats wrong. Can you fix please?#Sabres pic.twitter.com/d8MbKJKbFS

While the ‘never’ in the loss column of the first tweet is comedic gold, I would seriously appreciate those small adjustments to Casey Mittelstadt’s numbers this season.
That would go a long way to me winning my fantasy hockey championship matchup this week.
